2025 AuPS Meeting Home                                 Parramatta: Travel and Accommodation

Parramatta

Parramatta is located in the heart of Western Sydney. One of Australia’s oldest settlements situated on the traditional lands of the Burramattagal people of the Darug Nation, who inhabited the area for thousands of years. Established in 1788 as a vital agricultural centre, in the late 1980's it transformed from a largely industrial area into a vibrant urban hub with a diverse population of over 250,000. With convenient transport links, spacious open parkland, historic buildings and bustling city centre, Parramatta is often referred to as "Sydney's second CBD".
