LOCATION
Parramatta, Sydney
Parramatta is at the heart of the fastest growing region in Australia. There are a host of activities and places to visit beginning with the expansive Parramatta Park just 10 minutes walk from the conference centre. The park is the home of the oldest surviving Government building in Australia, Old Government House.
For those who love their sport, the newly built Parramatta Stadium home to the Home to the Western Sydney Wanderers in the A-league is a short light rail journey or a 20 minute walk from the conference. The local WBBL team Sydney Thunder will be playing on the Sunday morning at Drummoyne Oval, approximately 30 minutes by car from Parramatta.
Parramatta has a bustling nightlife centred around the restaurants and bars in Church Street, a short walk from the conference venue. Nearby is the Riverside Theatres that hosts comedy shows, music, theatre productions and cinemas.
Across the railway station is one of the largest Westfields shopping centres in Australia with 457 stores including food courts, supermarkets, cinemas and other entertainment.
For parents of pre-school children, there are ample activities for children. Parramatta Park contains two large children's play areas, and Parramatta Stadium has a surprisingly impressive large play area attached to the outside of the stadium. The newly-built Parramatta Aquatic Centre has an indoor splash play area for children up to primary school age.
Conference Venue Western Sydney University is honoured to be hosting the conference at the Peter Shergold Building (1PSQ) in the Parramatta City Campus. The venue is located in the centre of Parramatta directly outside Parramatta train station (169 Macquarie Street). The venue is conveniently located within walking distance of nearby hotels and the welcome reception. The conference dinner is a short trip by light rail or hire car, or a 30 minute walk. |
